A 59-year-old man driving his Jeep west of Hailey was involved in a single car accident. The accident was on Croy Creek Road on Monday night. The driver was thrown from the vehicle.

The vicitim was found

lying in the middle of the road just east of the Wood River Animal Shelter about a mile and a half out Croy Creek Canyon. Paramedics and the Blaine County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the scene at 8:33 p.m.

Incident Commander, Captain Tom White, classified the man's injuries as Level 1, meaning he incurred multi-system trauma.

"It means a person has suffered multiple fractures, lacerations and possible internal injuries," Lassman said. "You need an operating room within a golden hour. That is the time you have to really save people and do interventions. The classification is important so the whole emergency medical system knows that these people are coming."

The man is in critical condition and being treated at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. The police are still investigating the accident.
