A log splitter sold at hardware stores across the country have been recalled because they have the potential to harm the person using it. The product recall is for Brave Products and Iron & Oak log splitters. The problem is with the hydraulic cylinders.

The splitters were sold at Ace, True Value, and Do It Best Hardware stores and independent power equipment dealers nationwide from January 2002 through October 2004, and from May 2006 through April 2007, for between $900 and $2,000.

They were manufactured in the United States.

The company will be offering a free replacement cylinder to everyone that owns the defective log splitter. In the meantime you should stop using the product. Someone had their hand amputated while using the device.
